There are many activities accessible any time of the year.
Shopping. Leavenworth is a Bavarian-themed town with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Plain Hardware in the nearby village of Plain is also a great spot to meet some of the locals (it’s a lot more than a hardware store – they serve espresso!).
Wine Tasting. There are many wineries in the area. One of our favorites is Icicle Ridge Winery in Peshastin, about 3 miles East of Leavenworth off US2 (North Road). Taste some local wines in a beautiful cabin surrounded by orchards & grapevines & overlooking a mill pond.
Icicle Junction. Located in Leavenworth is a kids’ arcade with indoor video & “ticket” games, movie theatre, and putt-putt golf (summer only for outdoor activities)
Salmon Hatchery. Located about 2 miles from Leavenworth along Icicle Creek Road. The BIG fish come in (all the way from the Pacific via the Columbia & Wenatchee Rivers) during June, July, and August. They are worth seeing!
Cashmere. A short 45 minute drive to Cashmere will get you out of the mountains & into a high dessert environment. Cashmere is the home of the Applets & Cotlets factory, a great Pioneer Museum, and a few antique stores. It’s also a great place to buy fresh apples & pears in late summer & fall.
Wenatchee. Just 10 miles or so past Cashmere is Wenatchee & the Columbia River. Wenatchee has several riverfront parks, theatres, some shopping & the Ohme Gardens.
